How To Market A Product

February 7th, 2010 · Media & Journalism

I learned how to market a product by trial and error. Mostly error. I don’t feel like I’m bragging too much when I say I have been called a visionary more than once. Most people see me as an innovative and forward thinking designer. No one sees me as particularly practical, however, and practicality is a big part of what product marketing is all about. I never really bothered to think about product launches or publicity. I would send out a few press releases, market my product through word of mouth, and assume that it would sink or swim on its own merits.

Fortunately, small business owner was not my only title. I was marketing my own inventions as a comfortable little sideline in the hopes of one day striking it rich. I took flop after flop in stride, figuring that the time just wasn’t right. It probably could’ve gone on like this forever with none of my new and innovative designs making any money in I had not met a marketing expert.

When we first met, I was very much a pity case for her. She was one of the premier regional experts in how to market a product, and didn’t really need to work with me. Nonetheless, we bonded pretty quickly and I think she saw something innovative and promising in some of my design work. She saw something that moved her to do something rare in the industry. She agreed to do all the marketing work on spec for a cut of the profits. She made me her project since she did not really need the money, but wanted something interesting to work on.

The end result was great for both of us. She used her product positioning skills to make me a lot of money, and she got a sizable cut of that money. I didn’t exactly get rich, but I certainly came out of it pretty well off, especially considering how I started. If she had never come along with her knowledge of how to market a product and her connections, I never would have gone anywhere. Having business relationships that are long term with someone I can trust is the real payoff.

Great Tips for Home Decor Lighting

February 7th, 2010 · Media & Journalism

Any good interior designer will tell you to start with a central point of your room, around which your decorative objects may flow. Once you have selected your focus, find pictures in magazines and decorating books for inspiration.

We recommend you to visit this lighting company, they have a free guide with great resources. With a great selection of antique chandeliers
choose one and follow these great tips to decorate the interior of your home successfully:

Choose a base object of decoration: select an object of great impact as a starting point. This piece can be a floor cushion with a beautiful fabric, a poster or a painting, a floral arrangement, a vase, a rug or anything that goes well with your style. This object will set the style, theme and tone you expect to create in space and help determine your overall combination of colors.

Illumination: The lighting of a space is as important as the colors you choose.

Ceiling light fixtures are in most cases the only design element you will add to the biggest open space you’re likely to ever come across in interior design, so think carefully how to utilize it.

Wall mounted lights can also completely transform a space as a piece of art by itself and also by giving other wall art and ornaments on shelves a new look. These are perfect for smaller spaces such as a hallway or staircase.

Table lamps, floor lamps and candles strategically placed in space can add warmth and interest where you need it most. Adding a new shade to a lamp also instantly changes the quality of light and the overall feel in the room.

Think about the effect you wish to achieve: crystal-accented light fixtures add sparkle, glamour and interesting plays of light and shadow. Murano and stained glass adds color and warmth. Brass, steel, wrought iron or copper can add anything from a classic to contemporary or modern to renaissance feel.

Sort individual items: this eliminates loose things from your environment to underpin a better overall appearance. For example, get some baskets that match your theme (wood, wicker, cloth, sea grass, Longaberger), these can be used for storing magazines, toys, mail or any of the myriad things that so quickly clutter up our living spaces.

You can also organize the objects by adding shelves and display your collections in one place for a great personal finish. Gather your various porcelain figurines, travel souvenirs, decorative boxes or Tuscan pottery scattered all around your house and display them together.

Shelves come in a variety of decorative styles and materials ranging from wood and wrought iron to acrylic and steel and can help raise your eyes in a space.

Renewing old furniture: Ready for a change? Place an interchangeable cover an old sofa or replace old sofa cushions and decorative throws.

The pillows can add a lot of fun to your space, the options are endless! Add a floral print for a country house feel, leather for Western, cabin or even medieval themes, or tapestry tassels for that classic look.

Two large decorative pillows can sometimes be more daring than several small pillows that can fill your space and distract from the overall appearance.

Decorate the walls: Pretend that your walls are a blank page, regardless of the color of paint. There are many items to decorate your walls, from paintings and posters to shelves, tapestries, sconces and boxes which make it difficult to know where to start. Remember to put your theme or style as the ordering principle.

Acrylic display shelves, highly fashionable posters, reinforce a modern style, while black and white pictures in wooden frames can create a sense of antiquity. To unify a group of pictures, frame them in similar frames.

Synchronize your wall art in relation to the size of the wall and furniture. The landscape paintings and posters with images of a scene open a small space and create “a window outside”, as do mirrors. Whereas modern art works well in wide open spaces and bring you “in”.

Simply use them as inspiration. Trust your instincts, taste and natural style. Choose a hinkley lighting. Are you attracted to the clean lines and geometric shapes of modern minimalism? Or do you prefer a haven of bamboos, orchids and dark wood of quiet Asian Zen? Listen to what your heart says and follow your instincts!

Cheap Faux Wood Blinds Vs Wood Blinds

February 7th, 2010 · Media & Journalism

Most of us would definitely be interested in providing our homes and office an aura of warmth and coziness all the time. More often than not, wood blinds will be able to help us achieve both warmth and coziness anywhere we want in a seemingly effortless manner. However, wooden blinds are relatively more expensive than other types of blinds out in the market today, like vinyl and aluminum ones. How, then, will you be able to create the ambiance that wooden blinds can achieve if you do not have the budget to buy them?

A great alternative to wooden blinds are cheap faux wood blinds. Why? Because cheap faux wood blinds are able to accomplish the look as well as the feel of real wood in a much cheaper way.

Faux wood, just to give you a clearer picture on what they are, is made from a combination of different materials and chemicals, specifically adhesives and different types of veneers that are made to be able to resemble wood. When they were first introduced in the market, faux wood contained harmful chemicals, making manufacturers wary in using them as cheap replacements for their wood products. As years went by, though, the faux wood manufacturing industry began using raw materials that are no longer harmful, like resins and wood chips, and have since then become popular as alternatives to different types of wood furnishings, including the manufacture of cheap faux wood blinds. This new innovation put them to new heights, and they have since then become really popular and more economical alternatives to real wood.

Cheap faux wood blinds can be made from particleboard, an engineered wood that are used frequently to manufacture furnishings. They can also be made from hardboard, which are frequently being used for floorings. Laminated veneer lumber is also being used in manufacturing them. For many people, cheap faux wood blinds are way better than authentic wooden blinds because of the following reasons:

1. They are practical alternatives since they are way cheaper than authentic wood blinds.

2. They are easy to maintain since dusting them off with cloth is usually enough to keep them in pristine condition.

3. They are very ideal to use in places that often experience moisture since they will be able to bear the harsh elements much better than authentic wooden ones will be able to.

4. They are lighter in weight.

5. They offer the same durability as wooden ones do.

6. They come in a wide variety of sizes, colors, and designs.

7. They are very easy to customize.

8. They are definitely more environmental friendly than wooden ones since they require lesser timber to manufacture. Sometimes, they do not even need to use them.

9. They are more flexible than wooden blinds.

Cheap faux wood blinds are able to achieve what genuine wooden ones are able to achieve, and for a lot of people, they can achieve even more. Because they are much cheaper than wood blinds, they offer not only practicality but also, myriads of possibilities in terms of interior design schemes.

If you’re trying to create an aura of coziness and warmth in your home, window wooden blinds are the solution to your problem. Faux wood blinds and real wood blinds are just two of the many different types of blinds that you can install in your house. Learn more by visiting http://wooden-window-blinds.net/

Networking Hints and Tips

February 6th, 2010 · Media & Journalism

Give Your Elevator Speech a Lift!
By Lorraine Howell

You just have a single chance to make a great first impression. Which is particularly accurate in today’s swift-paced business environment where cards and introductions are exchanged and rapidly forgotten.

At a networking event if a person asks the opening “What do you do?” consider that 15-20 seconds — or the length of time of an elevator ride – is all you have to start a dialogue that has the ability to fuel your company’s success. It can be worth your time to create a compelling sound bite in advance which explains what you do and why the listener should care.

For getting to the essence of a fantastic elevator pitch, respond to these questions: [Read more at NetworkingEventFinders(dot)com]

WOW Elevator Pitches
By Laurie-Ann Murabito

How would you like to produce interest and make the good impression on others to carry on a dialogue? What if your own words had the ability to get more curiosity? Clientele? Referrals? How about hearing the words, ‘tell me more’.

Business networking events, sales calls, interviewing and getting together with new folks could be nerve-racking. Stumbling over your elevator speech can give off the incorrect impression of you, your business or professional talents. You need just a few tricks to appear and seem like a pro. You will have about 30 seconds to get someone’s attention, and here’s how.

Effortless: Develop a statement that’s intriguing, virtually mystical… [Read more at NetworkingEventFinders(dot)com]

Star Gazers of Networking; Who They Are and How to Handle Them
by Emmy M. Vickers

A lot of entrepreneurs and professionals who show up at networking events have a tendency to take pleasure in “working the room” to discover how many individuals they will meet; the number of business cards they are able to collect in the shortest amount of time. This can cause the unintentional condition that I like to refer to “star gazing.”

Like an amateur astronomer looking at the evening heavens for identifiable star patterns, the “Star Gazer” in business networking terms is that particular person who is half-heartedly involved in a conversation while scanning the place to determine who else they would like to talk to prior to leaving the event. “Star gazers” usually do not recognize how rude and disrespectful this conduct actually is. Get The Secret Of Getting Term Life Insurance

February 6th, 2010 · Media & Journalism

What Is The Secret Of Term Life Insurance??!

Term life insurance is a type of life insurance coverage which is only valid for the term of the life insurance contract.

In a nutshell, when you purchase term life insurance, you and the insurance company enter into an agreement to provide you coverage for a specific term, the length of the agreement, for a specified premium each month or year.

If you’re the type of person who:

* just wants a “no frills” full coverage;
* just wants to get the highest value coverage for the lowest cost; and
* is not engaged in a dangerous hobby or profession…

term life insurance is for you.

It’s because of this simple rule above that, with the Consumer Advocate Strategy, you’ll be able to save your precious dollars and still get the best coverage you can!

So stay with me and read on…

What Are the Benefits of Term Life Insurance?

One of the benefits is the lowest prices and rates out of almost all life insurance coverage types. The reason behind this is because there is no return cash value once the term’s maturity is reached unused, unlike many of the other life insurance types.
What’s Not Covered in Term life Insurance?

Term life insurance, just like every other insurance type, has certain exclusions which are not covered.

Many life insurance providers require a form which has numerous questions about your occupation, activities, and hobbies, and your premiums are based on an assessed risk according to your answers, among other factors.

If you engage in high risk activities or work in a high risk occupation, you will have higher rates than people who do not. If you are a commercial pilot, or you fly planes as a hobby, you are at a higher risk for death than an accountant or lawyer.

Your premiums are based on your risk factors, and the more risks you take the higher these premiums will be.

So How Does The Low Cost Justify Itself Again?

Term life insurance offers better life insurance costs than other types because the policy only serves to be in force during the lifetime of the policy. With no extra benefit to it after it expires, you are charged a way lower rate than the other policies that offer other “value-added” features to sweeten the deal.

Term Life insurance is a “no frills” insurance policy and its low prices serves to emphasize that point.

Finally, The Consumer Advocate Strategy On How To Use Term Life Insurance To Your Advantage (Save $$$)!!

Insurance premiums are based on risks, no matter what type of insurance it is, and life insurance is no different.

So little Consumer Advocate me came up with a great strategy on how to use term life insurance to your benefit. It’s so simple and saves you so much money, you’d be slapping your head in amazement!
