Basic checks that one could make to minimise any risks include:

* If your scaffolding has expired 3m (10%u2019) high, personal fall protection ought to be provided or the scaffold needs handrails over 950mm (38%u201D) high.

* Anyone working near the scaffolding or on the scaffolding must wear a hard hat (in the united kingdom it can be compulsory to provide head protection/ hard hats on any site).

Tips You Can Use to Buy the Right Reading Light for the Favorite Book Lover on Your List

When you’re searching for the right reading light, you need to keep in mind both where and how it will be used. First, what size and type of book will your light be used with? If it only needs to light standard size mass market paperback books, a smaller, single LED or incandescent design will likely be fine. If it must evenly light a large dictionary, then you’ll need a reading light designed for considerably greater light output distributed over a significantly larger area. Another thing to consider is whether you prefer the warmer, slightly yellowish glow of an incandescent light source or the whiter, cooler output of modern LEDs.

Another significant consideration is maintenance. While both LED and incandescent designs require about the same amount of power, discharging batteries with about equal speed, incandescent bulbs have a life expectancy of between 15-25 hours of use. LEDs, while they are only slightly more expensive than incandescent designs, typically have life expectancies of between 5,000-50,000 hours of use. Obviously, LEDs will cost much less to service over the long haul if the light will be used constantly.

Most modern reading light designs offer the flexibility of running on batteries or A/C operation. Obviously, battery power is convenient when the light is to be used anywhere an A/C outlet isn’t handy, but it can be expensive to replace batteries, as most fully charged alkaline batteries provide sufficient power only for approximately 20-30 hours of use. A good option to consider would be a good battery recharger and set of rechargeable batteries.

Lastly, a reading light typically comes with a sturdy clip that allows the light to be securely attached to your book, book holder or book stand. The clip can also be used to secure your reading light to a music stand, podium, desk, piano or organ music rack, etc, which exponentially increases the uses for your light. Some designs offer an optional base or cradle which allows your light to be mounted to any ferrous surface, such as a refrigerator or other appliance, a car fender, hood or trunk lid, etc. The possible applications are unlimited.

IQ test facts

Probably you are familiar with term IQ test. In a lot of printed publications, focused on women in particular, you may find them. Doing a web search will also find as many as you like. You simply fill in your answer to the tasks given in the test. Then you submit the test and before you can count to ten, you get your results – a two or three digit number.

But to start from the beginning, what is an IQ test really? And what does the score mean? IQ stands for ‘Intelligence Quotient’, meaning how smart you are. It’s supposed to give you an idea of how well you’ll do at a certain profession or how well you’ll perform academically.

The basic concept of an IQ test is to estimate how well the brain solves problems in paper form. It assesses the ability of your brain to figure out solutions to issues presented to you in written form. Your intelligence is gauged in respect to another person. It is the most used method to measure human intelligence.

IQ 100 is defined as the average of the whole population. Any score over 100 means you are more intelligent than average. Any score less than 100 indicates your intelligence level doesn’t match up to the average John Doe.

Advantages of the IQ Test

  • Employment E.g. you like to hire someone for a position. One way to get a better understanding of the candidate’s capabilities would be to let them take an IQ test. You could select the type of test to use. These may be more related to the type of work involved. The results should give a clue on the suitability of the candidate for the position. That way some candidates could be eliminated since they would most likely not be able to make the job.
  • Academic admission On top of the SAT and other tests IQ tests to judge their intelligence. As there are often fewer places than applicants, this could be an additional screening tool. You could pick the cream of the crop from the high IQ scorers and send rejection slips to those who didn’t make the grade.

Negative sides of the IQ test

  • IQ tests are far from infallible though A High IQ sore does not guarantee that you also perform well in other important aspects. They didn’t rise high enough or fast enough up the corporate ladder.
  • Other factors may be more important College students who initially showed promising scores on their IQ test ended up not being so hot when they sat their term papers. Studies have found out that a student’s self-discipline is a better gauge of how well they’ll do at college or high school. Relying only on smartness is not enough you must put whatever IQ you have to work to do really well. Many high IQ scorers have been overtaken by so-called ‘weaker’ minds with much lower IQ.

0844 numbers or 0800 numbers? Which should you pick for your company?

When it comes to choosing telephone numbers, UK businesses have a number of options (if you excuse the pun). Many opt to use 08 numbers and a quick look through a business directory will prove this. 08 numbers (e.g. 0844 numbers, 0800 numbers etc.) are classed as non-geographic telephone numbers because they do not have traditional area codes that make the location of the organisation using them explicit. This has many benefits, for example, businesses that use non-geographic numbers are likely to see an increase in enquiries from outside of the actual location they are based. This is also handy when advertising and promoting the phone number – particularly on websites as it means that the business is not tied to one location only.

Another major advantage of all non-geographic numbers is the fact that call management systems can be easily used alongside them to help businesses smarten up the way they deal with their calls. For example, phone greetings (e.g. “Thanks for calling…..” and menu options “press 1 to speak to someone about your bill, press 2 for general enquiries” etc). These features are all controlled online meaning that companies don’t have to install any additional hardware or equipment – which makes them a more attractive offering than bulky PBX systems.

Organisations can also handpick a non-geographic telephone number of their choice which is one their callers can remember easily and therefore, more likely to phone.

When it comes to deciding exactly which 08 number to use there should be many things that businesses should consider. Below there is a comparison between just 2 of the different 08 numbers available; 0844 numbers and 0800 numbers.

0844 numbers are often used by businesses to help them fund additional services. They are commonly used for technical helplines and after sales support because companies can actually receive a payment for the calls they receive. This payment can be as much as 3 pence per minute with some number providers. Additionally, there’s at least one provider that offers 0844 numbers for a small connection fee only and no monthly service charge. The cost for people to phone an 0844 number is reasonable at 4.25 pence per minute from a BT landline.

For companies wanting to offer their potential customers a free call from a landline, an 0800 number is ideal. 0800 numbers are popular for advertising and marketing campaigns as they remove the cost barrier for people to call them. In fact, research by the Institute of Direct Marketing has found that companies that use 0800 numbers can increase their calls by 185%. Organisations running 0800 numbers simply pay a connection fee, small monthly service charge and they pay for the cost of the calls they receive which is around 4p per minute. However, this cost is often ofset by the increase in enquiries and sales they receive. Plus, if you’re smart you’ll find a number provider that can offer up to 2,500 free inbound minutes.

The cost to call 0800 numbers from a mobile varies however and for companies wanting to offer their mobile callers a great deal – 03 numbers are perfect… but that’s another discussion altogether…
